NOTICE OF RACE

NORTH OF SCOTLAND YACHTING CHAMPIONSHIP 2025

1. RULES
The championship will be governed by the rules as defined in “The Racing Rules of
Sailing” - latest revision (as prescribed by the ISAF) and the Regatta Sailing
Instructions.
2. HANDICAP
The CYCA Handicap ratings will be used. Any boat not having been issued with the
aforesaid handicap will be awarded a handicap by the race committee appropriate to
that boat.
3. ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY
a)
The Regatta is open to all keelboats. There will be a spinnaker class and a non-
spinnaker class, valid for all races.
b)
Eligible boats may enter by completing an entry form and sending it, together with
the required fee, to Lossiemouth Cruising Club (LCC) before the 10th of August
2025, or by completing an entry form on the day and paying as required.
c)
No advertising will be permitted unless previously agreed with the race committee.
d)
It is a safety requirement that all yachts shall be CAT 4 compliant.
4. FEES
The entry fee shall be £40 per boat. The entry fee will include two meals for the
Saturday evening prize giving event (additional meals may be purchased at the
venue) and berthing for Friday and Saturday night if required.
5. SCHEDULE
a)
The race briefing and registration will take place at 0800hrs at Lossiemouth east
basin
b)
There shall be at least three races on Saturday as dictated by conditions and at the
discretion of the race officer, with no discard.
c)
The first race will start at 1000hrs on Saturday or as directed by the race officer at
the briefing.
6. SAILING INSTRUCTIONS and COMMUNICATIONS.
a)
Sailing instructions will be published on the L.C.C. website in advance and no later
than 7 days before the event and be available at the briefing for competitors.
b)
Radio communications shall be on VHF channel 72 by the Lossiemouth Committee
boat. Racing vessels should check in with the race committee at least 30 min prior to
the start of the first race.
7. COURSES
The courses to be sailed will be dictated by conditions and published at the briefing.
Course cards will be made available at the briefings
9. BERTHING
Berthing will be made available in Lossiemouth for Friday and Saturday nights for
competing boats. The fee will be included as part of the entry fees.
10. DISCLAIMERS OF LIABILITY
Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See rule 4, “Decision
to Race” in ISAF “Racing Rules of Sailing”. The organizing authority will not accept
any liability for material damage, or personal injury, or death, sustained in
conjunction with, prior to, during, or after the regatta.
11. INSURANCE
Each participating boat shall be insured with valid third-party liability insurance with a
minimum cover of £3,000,000 per event or the equivalent.
12. POST RACE SOCIAL EVENT
Prize giving will be held at the “Bridge 45” restaurant in Lossiemouth in conjunction
with an evening meal commencing at 1900.
